Shaddia is originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her love of Middle Eastern music began at a young age, when she used to listen to contemporary Arabic music and Golden Era classics. The incomparable voice of Yemeni singer, Ofra Haza, opened the door to a lifelong interest that eventually led her to her first belly dance lessons.
She began studying bellydance in Los Angeles in 2006 with Layla and Zahra Zuhair, and continued her training with dance artist Malia DeFelice of Half Moon Bay, California. Malia’s mentoring led her to the discovery and appreciation of a variety of dance styles from different dancers and eras that formed the basis for American Cabaret. Shaddia has also trained with numerous international instructors, including Raqia Hassan, Mohamed Shahin, Tito Seif, Saida, Amir Thalib, Pablo Acosta, Jilliana, Sadie Marquardt, Mira Betz, Simon, Florence Leclerc and Jill Parker, just to name a few. Today, Shaddia performs professionally at restaurants, community events, private events, and bellydance festivals in the US and Latin America. She loves to incorporate folkloric dances in her performances in addition to shamadans, sword, cane, veil and fan veils. Shaddia is a principal member of Asheq Collective, an award-winning San Francisco-based professional dance company (2017 Group Champion at Bellydancer of the Universe, 2019 Group Champion at Bellydancer of the Year). Since 2019, she has been co-producing Shimmy Love SF. |
